Graduate Students

Graduate students are eligible for study abroad, but graduate courses available may be a bit harder to find than undergraduate courses.

Some short term programs offer graduate level credit upfront (like some of Georgia Southern's immersive language programs), however, not all programs offer graduate level credit. If you find a program that you are interested in, but it does not offer graduate level credit, you should speak with the program director/professors about whether they're willing to offer graduate level credit for their study abroad courses, and they will let you know if it is possible. It is generally up to the program director or specific professor in whether this is an option or not.

Internships may be arranged through a 3rd party program, or even through career services on-campus. It may also be possible to organize fieldwork through contacts in your college, or you may search for these opportunities on your own. There may even be a possibility to conduct graduate research abroad with an exchange university! Whichever way you decide to pursue academic opportunities abroad - if you do not find your program through the Global Portal - all programs and travel must be registered with the Office of Global Engagement (OGE).

Transient Students

Students from other schools who would like to attend a Georgia Southern program should apply for transient admission for the term they would like to participate on a program.  They should then follow all instructions for applying to the program of their choice in the Global Portal.

Transient students are encouraged to speak with a study abroad advisor in the Office of Global Engagement prior to applying.  

All GPA and pre-requisite requirements for the chosen program must still be met, and all application materials submitted by the program’s posted deadline.
